EXTERRA TERMITE INTERCEPTION & BAITING SYSTEM

WISE PEST CONTROL is accredited and trained to install and maintain the Exterra system.

The Exterra Termite Interception and Baiting system is a new concept in the proactive and reactive termite management. It works on eliminating the colony or colonies in the vicinity or attacking your home.

The first step in the program is the placement of specially designed Exterra stations at carefully selected points in the ground around the outside of your buildings and when necessary inside and above the ground. Each of the stations contains pieces of non-toxic timber that termites are known to prefer to eat and are installed where foraging termites are able to easily find.

The stations are inspected on a regular basis - every 8-12 weeks if there are no live termites and every 3 weeks where live termites are found. When termites are detected in the stations the bait (called Requiem) is then introduced to the station without disturbing the termite feeding.

Although the Requiem can take several months to completely eliminate a termite colony, it also interrupts a termites ability to consume wood; this drastically reduces the rate of wood consumption of the colony within 6 to 8 weeks.

The toxicant contained in the Requiem prevents termites growing an exoskeleton. Termites have an exterior skeleton and as they grow they must shed this exoskeleton to form a new replacement. This is called moulting and occurs every two months. A failure to complete this process is lethal to termites.

However the amount of Requiem needed to completely fill one Exterra station contains less than one gram of toxicant, which in its pure concentrated form is less toxic than table salt.
